Location Guide and Suggestions

The Kitty Hawk Boat Launch

The boat launch in Kitty Hawk off of Bob Perry Rd is a well-hidden, absolutely peaceful area. The benches and docks at this location offer a quiet, generally distraction free place to photograph your dog with beautiful light in the mornings or the evening.

Dowdy Park

Dowdy Park in Nags Head is a fun place to get a variety of photos, whether it's the framing running under the pergolas or the elements of the playground to elevate the little guys to the size they are at heart (or laughably the big ones too!). The wide field also offers the simplicity of a nice portrait.

Jockey's Ridge

This unique location offers the sweeping landscapes of one of the largest natural dunes on the east coast as well as a secluded little spot to play in the water, especially for those who like the water, but maybe not the waves. Anyone who's been there knows there's nothing like a Jockey's Ridge sunset, but did you know their sunrises are just as gorgeous?

Coquina Beach

Take a drive a bit further south to Coquina Beach near the Bodie Lighthouse for usually wide open beaches, lovely dunes, glowing light and a glimpse of the Outer Banks free of homes in the background. It's a great place for some ball chasing photos or nice sunsets through the sea grass.

Manteo

Our very own little Manteo is overflowing with charm from the brick paths, the vintage marquee of the Pioneer Theater, the boardwalk along the marina, the Manteo Lighthouse and all the quaint little shops along the way. A little further down the road is the beautiful Fort Raleigh and Lost Colony theater.

The Beach

Of course no list of locations along the Outer Banks would be complete without the beach! While a common favorite, it's a favorite for a reason. From stunning sunrises to the classic wooden piers, you can just smell the salt air while admiring your beach photos and it takes you back to that feeling every time. Close your eyes, can you feel the sun on your face yet?

And so many others!

While these are some of my favorite places to photograph dogs, they are by far not the ONLY places on our beautiful Outer Banks to have sessions. I'd love to discuss any ideas you may have or other locations you're interested in!
