So you've booked a dog photography session (or you're thinking about it), and suddenly you're standing in front of your closet wondering if any of this even matters. Your dog is the star, right? Does it really make a difference what you show up in? And what about that harness your pup wears everywhere - is that going to ruin every shot? These are exactly the kinds of questions I hear all the time, and I love them, because they mean you actually care about making the most of your session. The good news: a little bit of planning goes a long way, and none of this has to be complicated.
The Assumption That Almost Every Client Makes
I get it. Truly. Your dog is the whole point. But even if you only end up partially in the frame - a hand resting on a furry back, a silhouette against a golden sky, legs stretched out beside your pup in the sand - those little glimpses of you tell the whole story. That connection, that bond, that "this is my person" energy? It still comes through even when you're only half in the photo.
So yes, what you wear matters. Not in a stressful, overthink-every-detail kind of way. Just in a "let's not accidentally make the neon green polka dot shirt the main character" kind of way.
And while we're clearing up assumptions - most of the dogs I photograph are on leashes. If your dog can't be off-leash, that is completely fine and totally workable. More on that in a minute.

Why This All Matters More Than You Might Think

Ready to Plan Your Session?
If you've been thinking about booking a session - or if you've been hesitating because you weren't sure your dog could handle it or you didn't know what to expect - I hope this helped. Your dog doesn't need to be a perfectly trained, off-leash angel to get beautiful photos. And you don't need a stylist or a whole new wardrobe, either. You just need to show up, be present with your pup, and let me take care of the rest.
I'd love to create something you'll hang on your wall and smile at every single day.
